500 miles south a glowing neon orange taxi drives through an alley way and pauses behind an off-white garage door. The garage door is now burning. Its now burning its hydrogen supply. The traffic lights begin to flicker. The plastic garbage cans begin to melt. The traffic lights are out. The taxi idles to the end of the alleyway. 4 kids skate by on one set of rollerblades. They melt as they cross the taxis path. Then the taxi melts. The street turns into a neon orange glow. The sunsets behind the downtown skyline, but not in the west. This sun sets in the north. This sun is real. This sun has a hydrogen supply. This sun is just lost.
Youre father never understood me. Fuck, I dont understand me.
Do you understand me ?
His car is driving down the road.
Hes in it, but hes not really there.
Hes never really there.
Hes going fast.
A couple hundred KmPH.
Not very fast compared to the orbit of the earth around the sun setting in his mirrors.
This sun sets. Very slowly at first. Then it picks up speed. This sun doesnt set in the west. This doesnt burn hydrogen. This sun burns something else. Something unknown.
A casket freezes solid 6 feet in the earth. The soil cracks to the surface. The trees shake, then shrink. The trees shrink into shrubs, and then into weeds. A man in an ultraviolet suit, a suit invisible to human eyes starts a lawn mower in the background. The weeds burst into flames, the flames grow higher and higher. The freezing casket in the earth thaws and turns to dirt. A flash blinds the earth. Everything disappears. The cities, the streams, the land, the water, everything. Everything except the sun. There is no longer a west for the sun to set in. Had the earth not disappeared, this is the sun that wouldve set in the west. This is the sun you know.
